The setup scares me

Often "setting the environment" from 0 is difficult, especially since it is the first step. Often, following a tutorial on the Internet, we come to the "hmm, it's not working for me" wall. And we do not apply for job advertisements that mention the implementation of automation from the beginning. That is why it is worth saving time and nerves and going through these beginnings with a trainer.

Purpose of the training

The aim of the training is to prepare you to write automatic UI tests using Selenium.
Together with Adam, who is a Senior QA Automation Engineer from 0 and step by step, you will write automated tests and learn and understand the necessary framework basics to further automate UI tests yourself .
We will focus on the most common scenarios and commands used in real projects. After the training, you will have the project on your GitHub and you will be able to develop it further and return to it as a "cheat sheet".

I am a technology-oriented quality control specialist. Throughout my history, I've done a lot of different testing activities. Backend, integration tests, website performance, web application test automation. In my free time I conduct trainings in the field of QA Java & Selenium, RestAssured with Cucumber.

The training is aimed at manual testers starting their adventure with automatic testing as well as for a little more experienced who want to learn about the Selenium framework. To make the most of participation in the training, we require basic knowledge of Java programming. If you have doubts whether the training is for you, write to us at kontakt@cantest.it. We will be happy to answer any questions.

In order for the training to run smoothly, we require:

software testing experience
knowledge of the basics of programming in Java (issues: Data types, Methods, Classes, Objects, Inheritance). You don't need to be a programmer or memorize 900 pages of a Java book. If you understand the basics of object-oriented programming and can run Hello World in any IDE, your knowledge is probably sufficient.

AGENDA

AND SENIUM CONFIGURATION STEP BY STEP

The first and often problematic step in learning to automate. Together with the trainer, you will go through the basic configuration of Selenium so that it ceases to be a "black magic" and a blocker before learning.

II TENANTS (CSS, XPATH)

Understanding tenants is the foundation of stable test development. Thanks to this, you will save a lot of time and nerves when automating yourself.

III BASIC INTERACTIONS WITH HTML ELEMENTS, HANDLING FORMS

You will start to program your first tests and learn the most common methods of interacting with elements of the Web application in real projects.

IV WAITS

Correct implementation and waiting policy in Selenium is crucial for the stability, efficiency and speed of execution of automated tests. You will learn good practices of waiting for items and understand the differences between Explicit wait, Implicit wait and FluentWait.

V ALERTS AND POPUP WINDOWS

Alerts and Popups are components that are present in almost every web application and interacting with them sometimes causes difficulties in tests. In this part of the training, you will learn how to effectively automate their handling using Selenium.

VI IFRAME

You will learn what iframes are and how to deal with their automation.

VII PAGE OBJECT PATTERN

You will learn the most popular design pattern in automated testing. Thanks to this, the tests will be easier to maintain, the project more readable and some of the code will become reusable.
